It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marc Raymond Casavant at his home in Port Coquitlam, BC on June 28, 2011. Marc being a bachelor lived alone. Following a few days of feeling unwell he passed away suddenly and quietly in his home. Marc was born, the second child, in Tisdale Sask. on July 14, 1962.

Marc leaves to mourn him; his parents Eugene and Lorette Casavant of Salmon Arm, BC, his older sister Loraine & husband Bruce Farrow of Kelowna, BC, three brothers, Luc of Williams Lake, Philippe and fiancée Keeran Sims of Nanaimo, BC and Denis and wife Joanna of Airdrie, Alta., and a younger sister Monique and her husband Jack Grimmer of Barrie, Ont. Marc also leaves several nieces and nephews; Stefan, Heath and Marsha Farrow of Kelowna, Tamara Casavant of Williams Lake, Meagan and Kayla Grimmer of Barrie Ont. and Owen and Anna Casavant of Airdrie, Alta. He also had countless friends across the province.

Marc had a great love for sports and was involved with teams in a whole variety of sports from high school through college and as an adult during his working life. His sporting endeavours included swimming, volley ball, hockey, fast ball, cycling, golf, to name but a few. He loved spending time with his friends and became quite adept at playing poker with them. Recently as much as possible he spent time refining his golf game. Marc had many lasting friendships beginning with those in the Dawson Creek area, where he resided with the family for some ten years.

His working life was spent mostly in the accounting field. His last several years were spent working for GFR Pharma in Maple Ridge where he was involved in financial planning for the company.

Marc will be greatly missed by his many friends and certainly by his family. Marc had a real way with children and they loved to play with him. His nieces and nephews will especially miss having Uncle Marc teasing them and roughhousing with them.

Marc was always very generous. His nephews & nieces were often beneficiaries of his largess. Many charitable organizations also benefited from Marc. It would have been his wish that rather than flowers that anyone who wished, make a donation either to Children’s Hospital in Vancouver or to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation in Salmon Arm, BC

A Memorial Service will be held at Garden Hill Funeral Chapel 11765 – 224 St. Maple Ridge, BC at 1:00 pm Wednesday July 6, 2011 and a Funeral Service will be held from St Joseph’s Catholic Church at 90 - 1st St SE in Salmon Arm, BC at 11:00 am on Saturday July 9, 2011. May He Rest in Peace.

Arrangements are in the care of Bowers Funeral Service, Salmon Arm.
