Margaret Ivy (McEwen) Jackson, our Mom, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother passed away peacefully in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on the evening of Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the age of 88 years, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Enderby, BC on July 11, 1922 to George and Daisy McEwan; Marg grew up at Grindrod together with her two younger brothers, Donald and Duncan.

She is survived by two daughters, Barb (Peter) and Betty, and two sons, Doug (Liz) and Garth (Deanna); eleven grandchildren, Richard (Jennifer) Aarestad, Greg Aarestad, Jana (Trent) Hegyi, Jaime (Alex Hansen) Jackson, Leanne (Rob) Cadden, Rebecca Jackson, Jeff Jackson, Scott Jackson, Natasha (Chris Haubrich) Jackson, Nadeane Jackson, and Taylor Jackson; and nine great grandchildren.

Marg was predeceased in 1955 by infant son, Gordon, in 1990 by her husband, Bob, in 2008 her brother Don McEwen and in 2009 her brother, Duncan McEwan, and her close and special friend, Ron Page on January 21, 2011.

After graduating from Nurses training at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, she moved to Edmonton to work. In 1946 Marg moved home to help care for her step-mother. She started to work in the Salmon Arm Hospital in 1947, retiring in 1975. She married Bob Jackson in 1948 where they farmed in the Mt. Ida area of the Valley. She is well remembered and respected for her love of nursing, this was shown by her years of bringing calmness to the patients, fellow staff, Doctors and the loved ones of each patient. Marg enjoyed years of world travels, keeping in touch with fellow nurses, and was able to maintain her smiling personality to the end.

The funeral service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Saturday afternoon, March 5th at 3 p.m. with Reverend Daryl Auten officiating. Tributes will be shared by members of the family.

Cremation with interment to follow at a later date in the family plot in Mt. Ida Cemetery.
