Margaret Mary Campbell

May 10, 2009

Margaret Mary Campbell passed away peacefully in Oakside Manor in the early hours of Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the age of 96 years.

Born in Monifieth, Scotland on June 9, 1912, Margaret lived in Borneo with her husband, James G. Campbell, where he managed a rubber plantation. Her descriptions of the monkeys playing in the trees and the orchids growing around her home were fascinating. Their travels brought them to Salmon Arm in 1941, where they had a farm at the end of North Broadview. After Jimmy’s death in 1973, Margaret sold the farm and moved to town, where she enjoyed helping others, always as an anonymous donor. Quite outspoken on occasion, Margaret loved reading as well as being very interested in her surroundings.

Missing her bright eyes and her Scottish accent are her honourary niece, Linda Griffiths and her daughters, Melinda and Katherine Griffiths and the staff at Oakside Manor, who looked after Mrs. C. with affection.

Cremation with interment will be held at a later date in the family plot in Mt. Ida Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Bowers Funeral Home and Crematorium, Salmon Arm.
