Mom died peacefully at home with her husband, Barry (Scott), by her side. Born in Fort William, Ontario to Margaret and Axelfried Larson, she was the eldest child and sister to five brothers: John, Cecil, Bruce, Jerry and Brian. She married Barry Dunphy in 1949 in Camrose, Alberta and, between 1950 and 1958, gave birth to six children: Durrand (Karolyn), Debra (Boris), Barbara (John), Darcy, Kelly (Jan) and Duffy. She was predeceased by her son Randy, grandson Tomas, and all of her brothers, except Bruce. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Friends and family back East called her Dolly, while those in the West knew her as Margie. Scott and Marg were married for 67 years and made a life together in Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam from 1954-1969, before moving to Salmon Arm. Mom was a full time stay at home Mom, who often quipped, “I never worked a day of my married life!” She was Dad’s sweetheart, and partner in everything-and she provided constant love and support to her family. All of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will attest to her talents and abilities as a homemaker; she was a fabulous cook and baker, expert knitter and crocheter and had a green thumb that made both vegetable and flower gardens thrive. Her kitchen was the hub of the home and her knitted creations kept all of us warm and cozy. Parkinson’s tested her strength, but never defeated her sense of humour, and she played a mean game of Scrabble, winning the last game we played with her in February this year. Thanks to all her physicians, especially Dr. Jennifer Takehashi and Dr. Mike Skubiak, the ER and second floor nursing staff at SLGH, the ambulance, community care and hospice people and all the friends, relatives and neighbours who made these last couple years easier for Mom and Dad. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the Parkinson’s Society.
