On Saturday, March 20, 2010, Margaret Reid Hopkins, aged 81 years, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by members of her family. Margaret is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Bill Hopkins and five children and their spouses:  Patricia Ogden (Warren), Lois Lodermeier (Allen), Stewart (Diane), Fred (Shelley) and Ralph (Susan).

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have many happy memories of special times spent with “Granny”.  Her sisters, Marion Sallenbach, Gertie McKeown, Dorothy McLean and brother Skip (Diane) Stewart will miss her quiet presence, especially at their annual sibling reunions.  Many nieces and nephews have fond memories of Aunt Margie.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Maud and Albert Stewart and her sister Edith Van Sickle and brother Bert Stewart, also brothers-in-law Jake Sallenbach, Bill McKeown and Don McLean.

Mom was born on Sept. 19, 1928 and raised on the family farm at Mt. Ida.  Following her marriage to Bill in 1946, they built a home on Beatty Avenue where they started their family.  In 1958, they purchased and moved to the farm on Piccadilly Road where they have resided for the past 52 years, where they raised cattle and enjoyed farm life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Aitchison, all of Mom’s wonderful care aides and family friends.
