Margaret Yvonne Elizabeth Potter (Nee Watkins) passed away peacefully on April 12, 2016 at Piccadilly Care Centre. Margaret, the youngest of four children, was born in Winnipeg on May 26, 1918. She married Dennis Potter in 1942 and following Dennis’ discharge from the army in 1946, moved the family west to Vancouver where they lived in the same house for fifty years, raising their two children, Caroline and Frank.  In 1996, Dennis and Margaret moved to Park and Waters Edge in Salmon Arm to be closer to family. Following Dennis’ passing in 2003, Margaret moved first to Lakeside Manor and then later to Piccadilly Care Centre.

Margaret’s greatest joy in life was her family; her two children, two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Throughout the years, she was a constant presence in their lives and the family have so many memories of time spent together. Margaret shared daily in their lives right up until her passing.

Margaret was a very proud lady, and by example taught us the importance of planning for the future and looking after family.  She loved being outside in her garden, and all three generations have memories of eating raspberries and other fruit right from Nana’s garden. Nana loved her family dinners, and in her later years especially loved dessert time.

Margaret will be sadly missed and forever loved by her daughter Carol (David), son Frank (Andrian), granddaughter Val (Doug) and great-grandchildren Cassie and Brennan, and granddaughter Karen (Claus) and great-grandchildren Matthew, Noah and Jonah.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Weicker for his years of caring and compassion, as well as the staff at Piccadilly Care Centre for their wonderful care in Margaret’s final few years.

Goodbye, Nana.  Your job here on Earth is done.  You’ve taught us well. We’ve got it from here.

“Those we love don’t go away,

they walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near;

still loved, still missed and very dear”
