GodboutWEB

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeanne (“Jan”) Godbout on September 1, 2016 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.  Jeanne had just turned 61 years of age.  She was predeceased by her brother Marc in 1988 and her father Hubert in 1993.  She is survived by her mother Simone, brother Claude (Kathy), nephew Joel (Jocelyn), niece Sheena Davies (Reid), great niece Halle and great nephew Easton.

Jeanne was born in Edmonton on August 29, 1955 and lived in Fort Saskatchewan.  In 1990 she and her family moved to Edmonton.  After finishing her schooling Jeanne did volunteer work at the Family Centre for more than 20 years.  In 2009 Jeanne and her mom moved to Salmon Arm to be closer to her brother Claude and his family.  Shortly after arriving she found a wonderful home with Donna and Michael Summerfeldt under the Home Share arrangement for adults with disabilities.  It didn’t take her long to become active in the Community.  Jeanne was a member of the Shuswap Association for Community Living and was involved with different groups.  Jeanne loved ceramics, knitting - making hundreds of scarves for those in need, made beautiful cross-stitch baby pictures and was an avid bowler.  She also found great pleasure in socializing with her friends in the various programs she was in as well as with the residents at Piccadilly Terrace where her mom lives.  One of the weekly highlights was spending Tuesdays and Fridays with her mom and being able to visit with residents during Happy Hour Friday afternoons.  She was also very fond of animals -especially dogs.  Most of all though Jeanne loved people and everyone who knew her fell in love with her as the gentle, kind, loving person she was.  We will miss Jeanne ever so much!!!

Simone, Claude and family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who so kindly dealt with Jeanne however they had come to know her.  Especially would they like to thank Donna and Michael for the wonderful, loving care that they gave to Jeanne.  It put our hearts at ease knowing that she was so well looked after and loved being with your family.

A memorial service will be held at Bowers Funeral Home on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
