Marie Joanne Hoare (nee Miller) passed away suddenly in Salmon Arm, BC, April 10, 2016.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, John, of 43 years, and her daughters; Connie, Amanda (Justin) and Jamie; and grandchildren, Helena, Jon, Carter and Logan.

Marie was born on July 12, 1952 in Vancouver, the 6th child of Michael and Theo Miller; beloved sister to Sharon, Michael, John, Gwen, Greg, Richard, Mark and Leonard.

Marie grew up in Richmond; and was an active member of the Navy League Wrenettes; loved to sew amazing fashions and worked for BC Tel.

In 1973, Marie married John Hoare at St. Paul’s Church. They moved to Delta in 1977 where her interests included camping, fishing and scuba diving.

In 1986 Marie and John adopted three little sisters, Connie, Amanda and Jamie, ages 5, 4 and 18 mos. Marie’s life was transformed; and was a loving, devoted mother to her little angels, continuing as a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader, as the girls grew up.

In 2000, Marie started a Companion Service called ‘Second Daughter’ and helped many people, as well as her parents, Mike and Theo, in their later years.

Marie exemplified selfless devotion. Always a smile. Always generous. Always willing to help others.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 90 1st Street SE, Salmon Arm, on April 23, 2016 at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at Richard & Kathy Miller’s, 5830 60th Ave. NE, Canoe, BC V0E 1K0 (250-833-0328)
