June 5, 1934 - September 3, 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our lovely Lucie from our physical world on Sept 3, 2018, yet rejoice knowing that she is lovingly received into the arms of Our Heavenly Father.

Born on June 5, 1934 in her grandfather's farm house near Zenon Park, SK. Lucie was the eldest of nine children and affectionately helped in the raising of her siblings. Lucie is predeceased by her parents - Pierre and Ida, sisters - Alice, Fernande, and Rita - and her husband Stephen George Schaff whom she married in 1953. She is survived by her sons - George (Anne) and Gary; her grandchildren - Cynthia and Lucas; foster son - Vern August; siblings - Paul, Loretta, Andre, Marguerite and Louise; as well as many nieces, nephews, family through marriage, extended family and numerous friends and people who's lives she touched.

All her life, Lucie volunteered her time and skills graciously to both her church and her community. She was actively involved with school aid, Valley Women's Institute, Catholic Women's League (CWL), Kamloops Diocesan and Provincial levels, Salmon Arm Fall Fair, Foster Parents' Assoc., Salmon Arm Pioneer Lodge Society, and St. Joseph's Parish choir - to name just a few. Lucie also had a passion for the maintaining of history, both for her family as well as for the organizations in which she served. She was an avid crafter, enjoyed sewing, knitting and embroidery and was recognized for her fine needlework.

Lucie leaves behind a legacy of kindness. She was caring, non-judgemental, and always ready with a smile, friendly conversation and a compassionate ear. She will be fondly remembered and fiercely missed by all whom she has left behind.

A Prayer service was held from St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday evening, September 10th, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2018 at 10:30 am with Father George LaGrange OMI the celebrant.

Interment followed in the family plot in Mt. Ida Cemetery, Salmon Arm, with a reception back in the Parish Hall catered by the ladies of the CWL.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make donations to a charity of your own choosing.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm.
