Marilyn was born in New Westminster, BC, the middle child of Mildred and Norman Bose of Cloverdale.

Her siblings include:  Audrey (Nick) Prestage from Quesnel, Reg (Else) from Kamloops, Bruce (Hattie) from Aldergrove, and Ken (Lynne) from Surrey/Cloverdale who live on the family farm on Bose Road (named after Marilyn’s grandfather – an early homesteader and reeve of Cloverdale). She was a cousin to many and a well-loved “Auntie Marilyn” to several nieces and nephews.

Raised in Cloverdale, Marilyn sped through school, finishing at age 16. She enjoyed sports, church, family, playing piano and organ, and community events.

After graduating from Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School, Marilyn proceeded to UBC, where she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree. During the UBC years she met, and eventually married, Al Christie.

Prior to and after her marriage, she taught school, building strong, lasting relationships with students and teachers. Her influence extended to young people in Chilliwack, West Vancouver, and Salmon Arm.

Marilyn and Al were married for over 41 years, living most of those years in their pink house in South Canoe (Salmon Arm). She loved and was proud of her two children, Dean (living in Burnaby) and Naomi (in Duncan).

The Service of Remembrance will be held at First United Church, Salmon Arm, on Saturday, January 29 at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Church hall.

Thank you to those wishing to make donations to a charity in Marilyn’s name.  She valued the Girl Child Education in Ghana (in care of First United Church), the operating fund of First United Church, and the Shuswap Community Foundation.
