1938-2021 ~ It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marv Westlund on August 2, 2021 at Piccadilly Care Centre in Salmon Arm. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Lynne; daughters Shelley Galbraith and Tracey Widdifield (Dale); granddaughters Sarah and Megan Galbraith and Emma Widdifield; brother-in-law Lawrie Kyle (Barb)of Manitoba.
Marv was born in Calmar, Alberta to Dorothy and Ernest Westlund and received his education in Edmonton. He started his sales career in traffic and customs for Canada Steamship Lines and was transferred to Winnipeg where he met and married Lynne in 1963.
Later he was hired away by the Chemical Division of CIL and relocated to Vancouver in 1972. Prior to retirement he held a management position with a Richmond wholesale hardware firm.
Marv's greatest joy was his family and the accomplishments of his daughters and granddaughters. He rarely missed a recital or sporting event and graduation ceremonies were special. Marv liked curling, bridge and crib over dinner with family and friends, and then there was his love of golf. His happiest memories were playing the game in Arizona and California and travelling to the courses in Ireland, Thailand and New Zealand.
In 2018 Lynne and Marv built a home in Salmon Arm in order to be closer to family, but Marv's health steadily declined. The family wish to thank the staff at Piccadilly, especially the nurse Fran for the comfort provided in Marv's last hours.
Online condolences may be sent to Marvin's family through his obituary at www.bowersfuneralservice.com
