LONEY, MARY IRENE
APRIL 4, 1907 - DECEMBER 7, 2007
Passed away at the age of 100 years.
Born to the Salmon Arm, B.C. pioneering and homesteading family of John Nowatzek and Marie Kokott Nowatzek.
She took Teacher’s Training at Normal School in Victoria in the 1930’s and taught in one room schoolhouses, travelling by boat to teach in Blind Bay, B.C. and riding horseback to teach in southwest Saskatchewan.
She then studied Nursing at the Grey Nun’s Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Mom was a wonderful caregiver and looked after everyone and every creature and was affectionately called Doctor Loney by her family.
Places she lived were North Dakota, Salmon Arm, Victoria, Eastend and Regina, Saskatchewan, Vancouver, Chilliwack and lastly Abbotsford.
Mom is survived by son Robert Loney, daughter Margaret Karmazenuk and son-in-law Ray Karmazenuk.
Predeceased by husband Ed and son Ted.
