Mary MacKenzie Parkinson (nee Benson)

June 12, 1921 - June 2, 2019
My mothers' hands are so tired and worn
A labor of love she has been since the day I was born
Time has aged and crippled her hands
For her children has always been the biggest part of her plans
These are the hands that lifted me up when I would fall
The same that would come quickly when my voice would call
The same that would gently stroke my hair
When fever overcame me, she was always there
They may appear to be wrinkled and old to another
But they're the most beautiful hands to me, and unlike any others
Her fingers are swollen and riddled in pain
With bulging veins they hurt the same
Though her hands might be wrinkled and weak
There the most precious ones my mouth can speak
The same hands that comforted and wiped my tears
Sweet mother I want you to know I am always near
I may not be there where you can touch or see
But look in your heart and there you will find me
Though they are old and wrinkled, they possess the most precious stories a soul could tell
Because of her compassion and devotion, she created loving memories of an endless well
My mother's hands are more priceless than anyone can know
She holds my heart in her hands, wherever she may go

June 02, 2019, Mary Parkinson chose her time to pass. A loss shared by her sister, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and other kin. On Sunday June 23rd, 2019 family will gather at 12 noon at Mount Ida Cemetery 2290 Foothills Road S.W. Salmon Arm for the interment.
Family and friends are invited to join together at 1pm for a Celebration of Life to be held at Bowers Funeral Home 440 10th Street S.W. Salmon Arm.
