Mary Florence (Bennett) Watt was born on April 22, 1913 in Desford, Manitoba and passed away on March 8, 2008 at the age of 94 years. She was predeceased by her brother Donald and husband Alex, and is survived by siblings Walter (Gwen), Edith (Don) McEwen, Mavis (John) Welton and Lois Faris. Also surviving are her children Don, Mary Ellen Jack, Bill (Elaine), Ann (Markku) Nikmo, and Alan (Brenda). Mary enjoyed games and activities with her ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren and could always be counted on to enthusiastically help out whenever needed. Mary spent many hours volunteering with the Women’s Institute, local Red Cross, Branch #109 Seniors, and the United Church Women. She also enjoyed exhibiting, judging and convening at the Salmon Arm Fall Fair for many years including 2007. Always busy with her hands she crocheted and knit numerous articles for family and charities, continuing with this despite a stroke just a few years ago. Mary enjoyed playing cards and scrabble as well as doing jig saw puzzles. She was a consummate communicator, always writing letters to old acquaintances, family, friends, and former students.

Many thanks to the staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their care these past days. A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Church at 11 a.m. Thursday March 13, 2008, refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
