In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Mel Willey at the age of 71 years.

Predeceased by his parents, sister, Eleanor Solvason and brother, Jim Willey, Mel is survived by his loving wife Linda, daughter Christine Firman (Glen), son Russ (Rita), granddaughters Grace Firman and Theressa Firman (Reece), grandsons Brandon Willey (Haley), Nicolas Willey, and Nathan Willey, and brother Blaine (Barb) Willey and many more extended family including Sisters in law and Brothers in law and numerous nieces and nephews that adored him.

Mel was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan on September 13, 1952. After leaving the family farm, Mel settled in Sorrento and later Notch Hill, where he and Linda raised their children, while he worked at the sawmill on Adams Lake for 39 years.

Mel had the uncanny ability to fix anything and was most happy when he was found tinkering in his shed on the various projects he had on the go. Mel was an avid fisherman, lover of coffee and someone who enjoyed sitting in his comfy backyard chair surrounded by family, friends, and their various pets. After retirement, Mel spent many a weekend traveling around, watching his grandkids play sports, and helping his kids and grandkids out with home projects. Dad/Grandpa you have taught us all so much and we will miss you.

Celebration of life will be held at a future date. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.bowersfuneralservice.com.
