HOLMAN, MICHAEL

February 23, 1927 - June 30, 2010

Mike passed away at his home June 30th, 2010. After serving as an Anglican Minister mostly on the prairies where he battled blizzards and difficulties to reach his prairie churches on Sundays and mid-week meetings. His wife Ruth helped him in this ministry. He took early retirement and worked mostly part-time on Vancouver Island where he also studied art at the college which pleased him as he loved art. During the retirement years in Salmon Arm he studied anthropology and art. He also sang with the Shuswap Singers. Mike loved the outdoors and his living space at his home enabled him to enjoy the pheasants, the occasional deer and flowers. He was a great walker in spite of his handicap and he could be seen walking around Salmon Arm on his canes and crutches. When Nancy his sister moved downtown to an apartment complex ran by the Rotary Garden’s she gave her dog Sam to Mike. He is predeceased by his father, Doug Holman, his mother, Grace Holman, his brother Art Holman. He leaves to mourn his death Nancy Holman in Salmon Arm, his nephews Keith (Lyn) Holman, Rick Holman all of Penticton; Sharon Holman and her family of Keremeos. His later illness was spent in pain.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 18th 1:00 p.m. at Rotary Gardens (common room) 141 10th Avenue S. E. Salmon Arm, BC.
