With great sadness and loss we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-great grandmother, Mildred King.

Mom will be remembered as a sweet, compassionate, loyal and loving woman with a generous heart and a playful sense of humour.  Mildred loved life, her home, her many plants and flowers and she especially enjoyed sharing these passions with family and friends.

Born in Pontiac, Illinois, Mildred and her family moved to Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan to homestead in 1917.  Mildred and Ted married and in 1944, moved to British Columbia, eventually settling in Salmon Arm in 1950.  Within a year, Mildred began working at the old Salmon Arm hospital and later, Shuswap Lake General Hospital, retiring in 1976.  She greatly cherished her many fond memories of fellow nurses, patients and friends.

Predeceased by her husband, Ted, and sons, Oliver and Earl, she is survived by her daughter, Kay (Ian) Stibbs; son, Roy (Parm) King; daughters-in-law, Betty King and Veronica King; and sister-in-law, Frances Laws.  Mildred had been blessed with 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Special thanks go to Doctors Stacey Kirkman and Kim Grieve and especially to Ms. Debbie Payne and her caregiving team for their dedication and support.

As requested, a private funeral service will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, Box 265, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N3 would be greatly appreciated.
