It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Mina Bayes, with her beloved Lionel by her side. Mina leaves many cherished memories and will be dearly missed by her five daughters, Debbie (Glen), Bonnie (Mike), Kathy (Keith), Sharlene (James), Laura (Lorenz), 13 grand-children, Tyler, Jessica, Dustin, Jennifer, Rob, Breanna, Vanessa, Brittany, Christopher, Curtis, Elara, Christina and Adam, 3 great-grandchildren, Theodore, Heidi, Lily, 3 step-daughters, Lorraine, Sharon, Coleen, 4 step-sons, Guy, Raymond, Clifford, Herb, her dear sister, Pearl (Vern), many nieces, nephews and friends from Surrey, Langley and Salmon Arm. Mina was pre-deceased by first husband, Bob Peet, sister Connie and parents, Howard and Dora Chamberlin.

Mina, raised by her Dad and two older sisters on the lighthouses off the west coast of Vancouver Island, became a very independent individual who always enjoyed new challenges. She loved her family strongly and unconditionally throughout her life, always led by example and was an inspiration to all. She was an avid fisher, expert sewer, knitter, gardener, cook, baker and home renovator. In later years, she devoted much time to her beautiful flower gardens and loved to go bowling with her dear Lionel and many friends in Salmon Arm. She will be remembered by her large family as a good hugger.

A celebration of life service was held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Saturday, April 25, 2009, with celebrant, Capreece Bowers. A reception was held in the Mountainside Room, and then interment followed at Mt. Ida Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mina may be made to the SPCA, Shuswap Branch, 5850 Auto Road, S.E., Salmon Arm, BC V1E 2X2.
