February 3, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Miriam Claire Chancellor on February 3, 2020. Miriam passed away peaceful in her home in Salmon Arm, BC.
She is survived by her children Keith Chancellor, Cynthia Willey (Delbert), Vanessa Stevens (Bryce) and her grandchildren Ryan, Taylor Anne, Chelsey and David.
Miriam was born in Chelmsford England in 1928 and immigrated to Canada shortly after World War II. She met and married Reverend Victor David Chancellor (deceased) in Vancouver BC. They served the Lord in different Anglican parishes throughout BC before moving to Swaziland, Africa for seven years. Miriam and family returned to Canada in 1972, eventually settling in Revelstoke, BC where they owned and operated the Lamplighter Motel and Campground. Miriam was an animal lover and spent the next 25 years working for the Shuswap Vet clinic in Revelstoke. After the passing of her late husband in 1989, Miriam moved to Salmon Arm.
Miriam was devoted to her faith and served in the Anglican parishes of St. Peter's in Revelstoke and St. John's in Salmon Arm. She was loved by all. Always humble and modest, "the meek shall inherit the Earth".
The family wishes to thank in particular, Dr. Malinowski for her dedicated, kind and attentive care, and the caring members and staff of Mt. Ida Mews.
A celebration of Miriam's life will be held later in the spring, time and place TBA.
