Mona Joan Olson (Thurston), age 87, of Gleneden, BC, passed away on Tuesday, Nov 12, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born in Gull Lake, SK Aug 7, 1932, her family moved to Gleneden in June 1946. She married John Olson Nov 10, 1951.They had two girls (Joanne & Luella). June 12, 1957, they moved to Palling, BC, where they farmed for 13 years. September 1969, they moved back to Gleneden. Mona always had a big garden and lots of flowers. Mona was well known, respected and deeply involved in community functions. She was predeceased by three brothers (Cliff, Pat, Ken) and two sisters (Bonnie, Linda). She is survived by husband (of 68 yrs) John; sister Berniece Tucken, sisters in-law Lyn Thurston, Sharon Thurston & Doreen Olson; daughters Joanne (Ernie), Luella (Dave); grandchildren Sherry (Shane), Jim (Kyla), Byron, Greg; great-grandson Vincent and many nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Laura Hepburn, Dr. Bell, the nurses & staff at Bastion Place, for all the care they gave to Mona. As per Mona's wishes, her ashes will be spread in Palling, BC at a later date. No memorial service by request.
