July 18, 1925 - July 17, 2019
Nan Martynook, loving known as wee Nan, passed away peacefully in her residence at Piccadilly Care, Salmon Arm with her children by her side.
She was born July 18, 1925 in Dumfries, Scotland to Richard (Dick) and Mary Wilkins. Nan was predeceased by her husband, Nick on May 8, 2013; parents, sister Ruby and nephew Richard. Nan was a war bride, she met her husband Nick Martynook (the love of her life) at a dance in Dumfries, Scotland. They were married January 4, 1946 and travelled shortly after on the Aquitania to Pier 21 in Halifax. She then travelled to Winnipeg by train to Nick who was waiting for her, they began their new life and adventure together. On August 15, 1947 Nan gave birth to their 1st born, Connie, in Pine Falls, Manitoba. Soon they made the journey to British Columbia where Nick found work in the Lumber Industry, moving to Sicamous in 1951, where they lived on Riverside Road for 62 years. In 1954 they welcomed Douglas who was born on May 18th, 7 years later they welcomed their lastborn Vivian, born November 7, 1961.
Nan was known in Sicamous for her energy, quick wit, an avid Bingo player. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a true lady, gave so much to so many, always smiling, always giggling and happy.
Nan will be missed by many, especially the family that adored her. Connie (Gareth), Douglas (Kim), Vivian (Steven), she was a grandmother, great grandmother, and we were all blessed to have her as ours. She also leaves family in Dumfries & Moffatt Scotland, and countless friends through the years. When Nan went to live at Piccadilly Care Park Place Flo Fritz came to visit her many times, bringing her a little joy each time. Thank you Flo for being such an amazing friend. Mom also made many friends in the care home, one special one to her was Dagny, she loved her dearly. Dagny was a special lady to all of us.
We the family would like to thank Piccadilly Care Home for their loving compassionate care of our mom. Mom loved you all so much and she was so happy there. Its one big family at Piccadilly and mom loved her Chickadee Ridge family so much. We also would like to thank Dr Bonthuys for his support and care of mom. O my Luve's like a red, red rose.
A celebration of life service will be held from the Chapel in Piccadilly Care on Monday afternoon, August 19, 2019 at 1 pm with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant. Interment will follow at a later date with her Nick in Eagle Valley & District Cemetery, Sicamous. TOGETHER FOREVER.
