Norma was born in Bassano, Alberta May 2, 1940 and died in Abbotsford Regional Hospital on July 7th, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

In her early years Norma spent time in Alberta and various places in B.C., before the family finally settled in Salmon Arm. Norma graduated from High School, then moved to Vernon to attend Business School. While in Vernon she met the love of her life, John Pasechnik.

Norma and John had two daughters, Wendy Ann and Shelly Dean. Business opportunities took the family from Vernon, to Mica Creek and then Revelstoke. While in Revelstoke, Norma decided to expand her creative side with the opening of her bridal business. She enjoyed helping the brides with flower arrangements, decorations, and bouquets, many of the brides became friends some to this day. She also drove to Salmon Arm to work in a flower shop 1 or 2 days a week, even with winter road conditions. Norma enjoyed doing crafts, oil painting, and flower arranging, many that she gave away as gift.

In 1999 after the death of her husband, she decided to retire and moved to Salmon Arm and then Vernon. Health reasons forced Norma to move to the lower mainland to be closer to both her daughters. With great determination Norma fought an ongoing battle with both heart and cancer issues, a great sense of humour got her through these difficult and trying times. Norma was kept busy with family, doing jigsaw puzzles and crocheting cancer caps.

Norma was predeceased by her husband John (Bunny) 1999, her father Floyd 1999 and Mother Josephine in 2007. She is lovingly survived by her daughters Wendy Ann (Basil John), Shelly Dean, and her granddaughter Rozlyn John (Kelsey Santos), sisters Judith (Harry Davis), Wendy (Joe Brunwald) and brother Allan Cary (Lidia) plus numerous nieces, nephews and their families….also her beloved granddoggies Lilly, Charley and SweetPea.

In keeping with Norma’s wishes a formal service will not be held. Flowers are greatly declined and memorial contributions may be made to SAINTS SANCTUARY (for Senior and Special needs animals that have no where else to go) 33860 Dlugosh Ave., Mission BC, V2V 6B2 www.saintsrescue.ca, or an animal rescue of your choice.
