SWANK, NORMAN BRENTNALL

April 2, 1926 - June 14, 2008

Norman Brentnall Swank was taken from us suddenly on June 14, 2008 in Salmon Arm at the age of 82 years. He leaves behind his wife Muriel of 59 years, children Wayne, Kathy (Terry) and Bill (Carol), grandchildren Leea (Paul), Carie (Greg), Rebekkah (Jesie), Jason, Aaron, Megan, Chris and Wayne (Susan), great-grandchild Tyson. He is predeceased by his brother Vern and sister Marion.

Norman grew up in the community of Tynehead, marrying Muriel in 1948 and raising his family in Surrey. They moved to Enderby in 1992 where he enjoyed his retirement. “Tumbleweed” - as affectionately known as by his kids - enjoyed many hours puttering in his workshop and had a knack for fixing numerous things. He and Muriel enjoyed many activities together, including camping, square dancing and old time dancing and loved spending time at their cabins on Rail Lake and Young Lake. They spent many hours working in their garden and were active with the Enderby Garden Club. Norman also enjoyed a love of poetry and was often found reciting a verse or two. Norman was a patient man who was soft spoken and always willing to lend a hand to any who needed it. A tea to celebrate his life was held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Enderby Senior’s Centre.
