April 24, 1940 - October 2, 2018
With much sadness, we announce the passing of of our father, Norm Kriese on October 2, 2018 at Shuswap Lake Hospital. A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and more.

Norm was born on April 24, 1940 in Dryden, Ontario. At the age of seven, the family moved to BC. In 1955, when Norm was 15, he left school to help in his father's sawmill. Dad had an aptitude for numbers and always regretted not having finished school, though to meet him and talk to him you would not know he only had a grade 10 education. While living in North Kamloops, Norm met Jane King and they married in 1962.

The love that he shared with Jane for 32 years built a family and a legacy that will live on through Monica, Laran, Kevin (Irene) and grandchildren Kameron, Phoenix, Seton and Miller.

Norm was a hardworking, quiet man who took pride in all that he did and was known for his honesty and love of the outdoors. He wasn't very social, and tended to be more of a listener than a talker, but give him an opportunity to talk about 'moving dirt' you'd see his eyes light up and the conversation flowed.

Dad was very proud of his work as a heavy equipment operator, was a lifelong member of the Union of Operating Engineers Local 115 and worked on a number of big projects throughout the province in his lifetime; he worked for the Department of Highways, on the Hope slide rescue and restoration, Hydro line projects in Northern BC and Mica Dam, numerous projects throughout the Okanagan Valley for the Dobbin family, 7 Mile tunnel for the railway in Rogers Pass, the Vancouver Island Pipeline, the building of the Coquihalla at Merritt, Road Foreman at Drew Sawmills, seven years in the oil patch in Alberta and last worked for his brother, Ron, in the North Shuswap- Seymour Arm area doing remediation work and snow removal.

Norm was predeceased by his father Herman, mother Elsie, sister Lorraine Valentin and brother Rick Johnson. He is survived by siblings Ron (Louise), Marlyn (Brian), Harold (Judy), Ken (Mariella), Charlene (Richard), Brent, Lisa, Tom (Sharon) and numerous nephews and nieces, as well as his little buddy, Duke.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2pm at Andover Terrace (where he lived) at 2110 Lakeshore Rd NE, Salmon Arm. Join us for Norm's favourite desserts and ice cream; to share stories and to remember the life of our Dad.
