Olga Thelma May, known by family and friends as Thelma, died at Hillside Village on the morning of November 30, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Thelma was born in Weyburn, SK on September 28, 1914, only child of Harry and Bessie Swift. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry May in 1979. Thelma is survived by her three daughters, Pat May and Irene (Don) Rogers of Salmon Arm and Joan (Dale) Primrose of Calgary.

Thelma grew up in Weyburn and married Harry in 1940. They started on a small farm in Saskatchewan and moved to Salmon Arm in 1958 where they ran a dairy farm of Jersey cows together with their daughter, Pat. Harry and Thelma retired from farming in 1974 and moved to a small cherry orchard. After Harry’s death in 1979, Thelma continued to live on the property with her daughter, Pat, until she went into care in January, 2007. Thelma was active in Women’s Institute, St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Canoe and St. John’s Church in Salmon Arm. She was a founding member of the Shuswap Hospice Society.

No formal funeral service by request. A memorial tea will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church hall at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations in Thelma’s name may be made to the CT Scan Campaign, Box 265, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N3.
