It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Terry "Pat" Phelan at the age of 63 following a lengthy health battle.
Pat is survived by his daughters Hailey, Kelsie, Samantha, brothers Len (Ann), Steve (Judy), his sisters Wendy (Ken), Laurie (Ivor) and predeceased by his brother Glen.
He attended Centennial High School in Coquitlam, where he did well in school and excelled in sports. Reigning from a naturally athletic family, he enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball, but his one true love was baseball. Pat moved to Yakima for his post-secondary education, where he played with a team of men that would eventually become his brothers.
Pat went on to coach across the country. He was widely regaled as a pillar of youth baseball in B.C. Pat went by many names to those that knew him; Terry, Pat, Patty, Grump, but to most, he was known as Coach. He connected to the world and those around him through the love of the game of baseball.
His legacy will live on in those that played with him, worked with him, were coached by him, and all of those that loved him.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the nursing staff at Bastion Place care home.
There will be a celebration of life once large gatherings are permitted. Details to follow.
