Pat passed away at age 75 in his home on May 29th 2009. He lived in the Gleneden area after arriving from Gull Lake, Saskatchewan with his parents Howard and Bertha Thurston in 1946.

Pat married his wife Lyn in 1959 and is survived by her and their 3 children; Sandy Giszas (Thomas), Coleen Thurston, and Tim Thurston (Heather) and 8 grandchildren; Devin Giszas, Nathan Giszas, Collin Giszas, Morgan Robertson, John Robertson, Avery Thurston, Cayden Thurston, and Darah Thurston, who also reside in the area. Pat is also survived by 4 of his siblings; Bernice, Bonnie, Mona, and Ken. Pat was predeceased by his brother Clifford and Sister Linda.

Pat worked for Salmon Arm Ready-Mix for 19 years and retired in 1993. During his retirement years he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and predicting changes in the weather through his close connection with Mother Nature.

Pat’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life at the Thurston Residence on Saturday, June 6 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, Box 265, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N3.
