October 23, 1946 - February 21, 2022
Patrick Halligan died peacefully on Monday February 21, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong B.C. where he had been a resident for the last 18 months.
Patrick was born in London, England on October 23, 1946. When he was nearly six years old he immigrated with his parents to Niagara Falls, Ontario where his brothers John and Terry were born.
After graduating from high school Patrick got a job selling floor tiles. He later switched to paint sales which became his life-long career. He loved to be known as "the paint guy".
In the 1970s he moved to the Vancouver area where he continued his career with General Paints. In 1990 he took up residence in Salmon Arm and that became his permanent home.
Patrick was very community minded. He also had a huge love for running, and over the years competed in many marathons and half-marathons in the Vancouver area. He combined his love for travel with running in Hawaii, Florida and Oregon. He was also recognized for his volunteer work with the Terry Fox Run.
Patrick's stage name as an Elvis impersonator was "Pelvis", the name given to him by his karaoke friends. He was often found with those friends singing at karaoke nights in Salmon Arm and Sicamous. He also sang at seniors' residences and was much loved for his Elvis, Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash songs.
Feline creatures were very special to Patrick, and he had several in his home in Salmon Arm. Using his voice impressions (some 40 voices), and his puppet-cat Spike, he enjoyed entertaining and doing political satire at other events.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents and a younger brother John and is survived by relatives residing in the Niagara region: his daughter Jennifer Logan, brother Terry (Jane) and sister-in-law Linda Halligan. Patrick was uncle to Kristen (Scott) Frazer, Kellie, Michael (Hannah), Shane and Dillion Halligan. His ashes will be interred in a family plot in Niagara Falls.
His friends in the Shuswap will miss Patrick's gentle caring ways and his spirited love for life which endeared him to us all.
A special thanks to the nurses, care-aids and staff at both Hillside Village and Pleasant Valley Manor for your kindness and patience which meant so much to Patrick, his friends and family.
