September 24, 2021
On the afternoon of September 24th, 2021 at 3 pm our Dad, Paul Samuel Schlitt, slipped quietly into the presence of his "Wonderful LORD and Heavenly Father", that is how his prayers always started for as long as we can remember. He was a powerful pray-er and he lived his whole life, almost 99 years, in service to his Heavenly Father.
Dad loved his family and from our earliest days he read the scriptures to us, prayed with us and for us, and took us to church and Sunday School, even on holidays we would find a church to attend. There were many family holidays outings and camping trips that combined his love of hunting with family fun.
Beyond our family, he served his Heavenly Father by including strangers and newcomers around our table, as well as inviting young bible school students and missionaries to be our guests and eventually life-long friends.
He was a truck driver, driving to all parts of BC and beyond, even there, serving his Heavenly Father was a top priority while he handed out his little bibles wherever he went.
His passion was to help send, support and pray for missionaries around the world. In later years he became particularly passionate about missions in Cuba, the Ukraine, the Philippines and their urban poor. He always gave generously. We often said "He would even give the shirt off his back if he thought someone needed it."
And now he is in heaven hearing the Lord's "Well done, good and faithful servant." All the way, his Savior led him and he is home. He has said his last Gott Befohlen and we couldn't be happier for him.
We know he is waiting there for his wife Connie who walked the journey faithfully with him for 70 years. He is also waiting for their six children with husbands and wives, their 24 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. We will meet again!!
A service will be held at a later date.
