January 14, 1933 - April 15, 2020
Pete's journey began January 14, 1933 with his parents Henry and Anna DeBoer.
He grew up in Richmond, BC, with his siblings Mary, Joyce and Ed.
Peter Harry DeBoer, 87, passed away in Enderby, BC April 15, 2020. His loving partner and best friend, Rene Knight, spent 22 years together, creating a warm and welcoming home. For many years Pete and Rene billeted hockey players and work exchange couples and maintained continuing relationships with many of them. They both enjoyed raising exotic birds, gardening and attending hockey, baseball and rodeos.
Pete is survived by five children and their spouses: Patrick DeBoer (Karen), Mike DeBoer (Anneliese), Deborah Boucher (Claude), Cheryl DeBoer, and Dannie DeBoer (Judy), as well as 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Negrin, Ed DeBoer and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceasing Pete were his parents Henry and Anna DeBoer, his son 'Rocky' Daryl Jay DeBoer and his sister Joyce Stevens.
Pete was a long-time resident of Grandview Bench, near Salmon Arm, where he and his wife Helen raised their family on a dairy farm developed from what was virtually a raw land homestead, purchased in 1963. He was a skilled and passionate farmer with an exceptional work ethic, which he passed on to all his children. He loved his cows, dogs and birds. He was passionate about playing and coaching hockey and baseball. The fun times where never forgotten; the family enjoyed many Sunday beach days, swimming and waterskiing, as well as skating, tobogganing and snowmobiling on the farm.
Pete's great storytelling and sense of humour will truly be missed by all his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date when the family is informed it is safe to do so.
