It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Peter on October 23, 2010 at Bastion Place in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 73.

Peter was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the son of Peter and Eugeana Symborski. He spent his early years in Edmonton, attending Eastwood Elementary and then Eastglen High School. Peter was active athletically and played on the Eastglen Football Team. One of Peter’s favourite pastimes was hunting with his father. Peter attended the University of Alberta completing a degree in Civil Engineering in 1959. Peter started his career with the PFRA living at Bearspaw Saskatchewan and working on the Diefenbaker Dam Site, relocating to Regina, Saskatchewan before finally moving to Calgary, Alberta in 1964 to build pipelines for various companies and countries for the rest of his working career.

Peter married Marnie East in 1958. While raising a family and working, Peter also enjoyed curling both in leagues and bonspiels, as well as playing both single and duplicate bridge.

After his retirement in 1996, Peter and Marnie moved to Celista, BC and continued to promote their love of duplicate bridge with a host of new friends.

Peter is survived by his four children: Kathy (Byron) Hilland of Calgary, Bruce Symborski of Calgary, Pat Symborski of Celista, Kerri (Wade) Trainor of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, nine grandchildren, and by his brother Gordon (Anne Conrad) Symborski of Edmonton Alberta. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marnie Symborski, and his grandson Mitchell Hilland.

At Peter’s request, there will be no formal funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank Doctors Trow and Main for their efforts, as well as the care provided by the nurses and staff of SLGH and the Bastian Extended Care Facility.
