Born March 5, 1927 in Nanton Alberta - Died December 28, 2017 in Salmon Arm.

Ken was predeceased by parents Sigurd and Margit, sister Pat Robinson and daughter in law Carol Berger.

He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Nell of 64 years, and their children Dale (Lise) Doug (Barb), Margot (Bill) Hagardt, and Nancy (Les) Gilburg. Also, 11 grandchildren, Cale (Tara), Taurean (Mike), Calvin (Danielle), Alex (Sandy), Elizabeth (Evan), Gillian (David), Devin (Elyse), Jennell (Jordan), Brianne, Andy, Laura (Daniel) and 8 great grandchildren.

Ken was born in Nanton, raised in Parkland and Vancouver, where he graduated from high school, he moved back to Alberta to attend Olds Agriculture College.

Ken met Mary Nell Rapson in High River where she was nursing. They were married in 1953, living in Calgary and then to Vancouver where he was involved in the construction industry until they landed back in Winnifred Alberta to help with the Rapson farm.

In 1965, Ken moved his family to Salmon Arm to pursue a Real Estate career with Salmon Arm Realty. This was a career where his integrity shone and in his prime, he was consistently a top salesman in the Shuswap.

Ken became involved in the community, first in Minor Hockey where he presided as President during the largest enrollment in its history. Ken, with a couple of other parents co-signed a loan to keep Minor Hockey afloat and create stability for the organization into the future. He would anonymously assist players who couldn't afford to play by paying their fees. Ken was also a life member of Rotary, receiving the coveted Paul Harris award and led an effort to supply vegetable seeds to Africa among many other projects.

In retirement, Ken drew on his construction and artistic skills. In his workshop he spent many hours building projects for his children and grandchildren, many of which are keepsakes today.

Family was important and is his ultimate legacy. He led by example and will be remembered fondly.

Donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation.

There will be a celebration of life service held in the spring of 2018.
