Here he continued to play baseball for one more year then played hockey. He attended North Battleford Comprehensive High School. During this time he was part of the track team and had Ruben Mayes as a team mate and friend. Rick ran 100 miles as part of his cross country running team. In his teen years he had a love of music, water skiing, downhill skiing, fish and camping and animals Rick always had a dog at his house. Rick loved the out doors. After a number of years, Rick moved back to the coast (Burnaby) in 1986. While down at the coast he received his Canadian Provincial Red Seal in Metal Fabrication. He also had three children at this time Jeff in 1989, Aubrienne in 1991 and Sydney 1996. Rick moved to Salmon Arm in 2002.

Rick worked at Valid Manufacturing for a number of years. He met Jacquie Adams at this time. Rick and Jacquie were engaged and built their home together. Circumstances had them on the move once again to Richmond to work. Jacquie found work first and Rick followed a few months later. The two had plans to move back to Salmon Arm in Fall of this year.

Rick had a genuine passion for life, family and friends and lived each day to the fullest. He was always there to love, guide, support and listen. We have been blessed to know Rick Fitz, though for just a short while, and are so very thankful. Rick, you will remain in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers and other in-kind support, the family will be setting up an education trust fund to assist Rick’s three children in any way possible to further their education. More information can be shared by contacting Jacquie.
