September 8, 1935 - December 15, 2022
In loving memory ~
Born September 8th, 1935, she passed away peacefully December 15th with family at her side. Rika was the sixth child of 11 siblings.
She married her husband Jack in March 1958. Two weeks later, they were on a boat to start a new life together in B.C. In 1959 they purchased a farm in Grindrod where they raised 5 children: John (Binky) Drydyk, Kathy (Rodger) DeMille, Jack (Brenda) Drydyk, Mary- Lou (Gary) Stewart, Richard (Heather) Drydyk. The family also enjoyed 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. After 26 years, they sold the farm and relocated across the road, remaining near family. Then in 2008, they moved to Armstrong. In 2017, Rika lost her partner and moved to a new retirement community in Salmon Arm. Rika enjoyed the last 5 years close to family and grandchildren. She loved sewing, crocheting, needlepoint and many of her grandchildren were blessed by spending countless hours at Oma's house baking, having sleepovers and doing all things fun. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and her generosity. Their home was always welcoming for anyone who wanted a cup of coffee or a warm meal.
Prayers will be offered Thursday, December 22nd, 7 p.m., Fischer's Funeral Services, Salmon Arm, B.C.
