After a brave battle against a serious back injury, Ron passed at 5pm February 6, 2017.  He is survived by Bertha, his loving wife of 69 years;  sons Kevin, Dave, Don, Gerry and Norm; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  All will greatly miss his wise advice, sense of humour and great storytelling.

Ron was born in Mission BC in 1922 and spent his childhood and youth in the Fraser Valley.  After marriage in 1947, Bertha and Ron took up residence in Hatzic and welcomed the arrival of five sons over a period of twelve years.  The family relocated to Summerland in 1964 where they resided for forty years.  The past eleven years were spent living independently in a retirement community in Salmon Arm.  His sons are grateful for the carpentry skills that he patiently taught them while building numerous houses and cabins over the years.  He loved to watch curling and hockey and perhaps his only regret is not having lived to see the Canucks win the Stanley Cup.

All who met Ron were taken by his sharp memory and ability to recount stories from his considerable, and richly-rewarding, 95-year life.  We all feel privileged to have enjoyed this wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

To the staff at Shuswap Lake Regional Hospital, the family would like to extend its sincere appreciation for all the comfort and care they provided to our loved one.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date this Spring.  In lieu of flowers, Ron would prefer donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
