Ron graduated school and worked as a lineman for the Manitoba power commission until joining the RCMP. Upon completing basic training in 1952, he was posted to Montague, PEI. While working there he met Anna Prosper and fell in love. They married in 1956. Between 1956 and 1987, Ron worked and advanced through his career with postings in Montague, Summerside and Alberton in PEI, Lower Sackville, New Glasgow, and Sydney in Nova Scotia. He received a Queens Commission, was promoted to Inspector and transferred to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1975. He remained in the Yukon until being posted to Winnipeg in 1980. In 1985 he was promoted to Superintendent in charge of Prince Rupert Subdivision where he remained until his retirement and subsequent move to Salmon Arm in1988. During his tenure in the force he received a number of awards and commendations, including the RCMP Meritorious Service Medal.
Ron was very active in his church as a member of the Knights of Columbus and as a singer in St. Joseph's choir. Ron was a sportsman and an outdoorsman, who loved fishing and hunting. He also was an avid curler a member of the Salmon Arm Golf club. Ron was also a member of the RCMP Veteran's Association, notably assisting in the evacuation and movement of persons affected by the Salmon Arm forest fires in the 90's. He and mom stayed very active well into retirement and spent much of their time travelling but kept permanent residence in Salmon Arm until his passing.
Ron is preceded by his daughter Coleen. He is survived by his wife Anna, sons Gregg, Kerry, Darrin, and Shawn, 11 grand children and one great grandchild.
