In loving memory of Ronald Norman Jacob, who passed away on July 3, 2010 at Royal Columbian Hospital at the age of 71 years with his family by his side. Ron had hopes that his heart surgery on April 1st would allow him to enjoy several more years; however, he later developed an infection around the new valve. He braved a second surgery and while his spirit wanted more time on this earth, his body was not able to provide it.

Ron was proud of his family and is survived by his wife Sandra and daughters Janice (Jason), Linda (Darrell) and Katherine (Richard); grandchildren Steven, Douglas, Dennis, Danielle; step-grandchildren Jesica, Kameron, Daniel, Amanda.

Ron was predeceased by his daughter Karen Elizabeth, father and mother Ray and Hylda Jacob, and his sister Marlene Docksteader.

In earlier years, Ron was a talented athlete, active in baseball, curling, hockey, basketball, volleyball, track and field. He was, in later years, an enthusiastic spectator at many sports activities particularly where his family was involved. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, winemaking, woodworking, and his work in the Kiwanis Club. He spent many happy summers at the family cabin on Shuswap Lake.

A celebration of Ron’s life was held at the Chilliwack United Church on Spadina Ave., at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010.
