Roy Laverne Dolsen passed away quietly and peacefully at Bastion Place, Salmon Arm BC on Thursday September 29th at the age of 77 years.
Roy was born January 9th, 1939 in Nipawin Saskatchewan. Roy spent his formative years in Trail BC. It was there that he developed his passion for skating and playing hockey. After graduating from J.L. Crowe in 1957, he went to the University of Victoria where he earned a degree in Elementary Education. One of his first teaching jobs led him to Terrace BC. It was there that he met his wife Yasuko Kondo. In 1965 he moved to the Chase area which is where he raised his family and touched the lives of multigenerations of students. In 1992 Roy started his hobby job as a Tour Bus Operator until his retirement in 2007. In his retirement, he shared his passion of skating with the children of Coquitlam and Salmon Arm.
Roy was predeceased by his parents Gordon Jacob Dolsen and Lucy Elizabeth Harriet Lowe. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Yasuko, daughters Kimiko (Kelly), Keiko (Sara), Rieko (Alan), two grandchildren Kiyomi and Timothy, and Sister Marian, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held in the spring of 2017.
