Our dear mother Ruby Papke passed away peacefully on April 30, 2021 at 93 yrs.
She had a good long life and lived in many places in Canada starting with her birth place in Quebec. She grew up in Saskatchewan, she was the eldest of nine children, and survived by her brothers Bud (Ruth) , Roi, and sister Myrna (Sharon).
After she married our father Wes, they moved to the Victoria area (Metchosin/Colwood). She raised us children, Gregory, Guy (Nyla), Marilyn (Barry), Neil (Michele), Matthew (Theresa), and Leaitta (Chris).
She was a mother to many more children including Myrna's kids Leah (Michelle), Dean, Brad and Kelly, also later on in life, Gregory's son Cory.
She was a wonderful woman, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to many. She had 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her long time boyfriend Merv Drummond, who was her square dance partner, her ex-husband Wesley Papke, her sister May, her brothers Norman, Gerry, Donald, and Johnny. Also Nephew Richard, and nieces Kelly and Vicky.
Our dear mother will be missed by many. She will be remembered for her big hugs and thoughtful gestures of love and acceptance.
A great thanks to the caregivers at Hillside Village in Salmon Arm. They were her second family for almost two years, and they took such good care of her.
May you sing and dance the night away in heaven and may your dance card be permanently full.
Rest easy Ruby Two Shoes, you were loved and lived a long and well earned life. You have earned your rest.
