August 2, 2019

August 2, 2019
Sadly we announce the passing of Rudy Metz who passed peacefully at home on August 2, 2019. Rudy was born on March 4, 1939 in Romania. He came to Canada in 1954 at age 15, sponsored by his uncle and with financial aid from his church.
He was followed by his father, mother and siblings to Vulcan, AB. They started farming and Rudy and his father built the family home, and Rudy worked there for a number of years.
Rudy was a self-made man and a jack of all trades. He worked as a bridge builder, worked as an electrician and mechanic, and finally as a Foreman at Tappen Mill. Before that he had a hobby farm, and a gas station on Hwy 101 on the Alaska Hwy. He was a pilot who owned three aircraft flying between work and home.
Rudy is survived by his significant partner, Sheila Halvorson and his children, Kathy (Jim) from Victoria; son Terry (Sue); Sandy (Wayne) from Fort St. John; and a son, Arnold, who predeceased him.
He left behind his siblings, one son and two daughters, and their families.
Service to be held Five Corner's Church, on South Broadway at 3 p.m. August 18th, everyone welcome.
Donations in Rudy's memory can be donated to Children's Hospital charities.
