Ruth Keller, 90, passed away peacefully at 3pm, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Fisher Place in 100 Mile House. Ruth was born February 8, 1926 in Switzerland and emigrated to Fort St. John with her husband Fritz Mueller and four small children in 1952. Eventually, Ruth settled in Salmon Arm in 1973 where she lived until 1993 before moving to Enderby and then to Summerland in 2005. Ruth is survived by her seven children (Walter, Rudy, Werner, Regina, Susan, Fred, Marianne), 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren who all loved her very much. Ruth built a life caring for others. In addition to dedicating her time and love to her children, many in Salmon Arm will remember her foster care to Stella, Brenda, Greg, and Emily. She will also be remembered as a strong leader and entrepreneur— this demonstrated most openly with the founding of Salmon Arm’s first Christian Singles club and later, the Interfaith Soup Kitchen. Lastly but most foundationally, she was dedicated to God and the church community in the towns that she lived. Ruth loved to garden, cook, and surrounding herself with beloved animals (especially goats). Ruth’s philosophy was to celebrate life to the fullest while living. She has respectfully asked that no memorial service be held after she has left this world. She will be missed but not forgotten.
