With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother Sabina Marion Draper (nee Cieslak) on March 13, 2019 surrounded by family in Blind Bay BC. Sabina left this world the same as she lived it, with courage, class, grace and dignity.
Sabina was born and lived her childhood in Edmonton Alberta and married Malcolm Lyle in 1952. The couple had five sons and raised them in Calgary until Sabina moved to Scotch Creek in 1982 and then Blind Bay in 1993. Sabina was an avid golfer with the highlight of her golf career being a hole in one at Shuswap Lake Estates GC. Sabina was also an expert gardener and cook renowned for her peach jam and cherry pies which was validated by the neighborhood children frequent visits. Her roses were admired by many. Sabina will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who were a part of her life.
Sabina is survived by her Sons Mark (Frances) Lyle of Fort Worth TX, Warren (Annie) Lyle of Calgary AB and Murray (Lisa) Lyle of Asheville NC, Brother John (Carol) Cieslak of Van Nuys CA.
Grandchildren Emily Lyle of Spartanburg SC, Megan and Kara Lyle of Fort Worth TX, Jennifer (Armik) Aghakhani of Pasadena CA, Brenna (Eric) McKenna of Calgary AB, Cole (Holly) Lyle and Kelsey Lyle of Calgary AB, Nicholas Lyle of Salt Lake City UT, Dylan Lyle of Charlotte NC, Christopher and Katie Lyle of Asheville NC. Great grandchildren Sylvie McKenna and Charlie Lyle.
Sabina was predeceased by her spouse William Draper, mother Helen Cieslak , father John Cieslak ,brother Stanley (Olga) Cieslak and sons Christopher (Susan) Lyle and Ryan Lyle.
We would like to thank all of Sabina's caregivers at Shuswap General Hospital and especially the members of the palliative care team for their professional, compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held in August on a suitable date for all her friends and family and neighbors at her son's house in Scotch Creek.
