January 1, 1963 - January 8, 2019
On January 8, 2019, Shannon Faith Sharp peacefully passed away, surrounded by loving family at Shuswap Lake General Hospital at the age of 56.
Shannon was born January 1, 1963 in Ashcroft BC. Her family moved to Salmon Arm just before Shannon was to start attending Kindergarten. She went through all of her schooling in Salmon Arm. Shannon then went on to post-secondary education at Okanagan College in Kelowna and Simon Fraser University in Burnaby to receive her teaching certificate. She went on to teach at many schools throughout School District No. 83, where she spent her entire teaching career. Notably, she taught at Bastion Elementary where her own children attended school.
Shannon spent her happiest times outdoors in nature. Being very spiritual and in touch with her higher self and Indigenous culture, Shannon found peace while on nature walks and overlooking water. She was fascinated by and felt a deep connection to the wildlife she observed.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband Troy Sharp, with whom she had spent the last 37 (32 married) years with, her daughter Jennifer, her son Jared, her parents Morris and Joan Wright, her older siblings James (Jayna) Pigeon, Kimberly (Steve) Rasilainen, her younger siblings Sherri (Rick) Skidmore, Tim (Christine) Wright and Chad (Teresa) Wright, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Shannon's celebration of life will be hosted at the Gathering Place (350 30 St NE, Salmon Arm) on Saturday, January 19th at 1 pm. All are welcome to join us in celebrating Shannon's wonderful life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation.
