November 5, 1952 – April 9, 2019
It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon Lynn Waycott/Lockwood.
On April 9, 2019 while exploring, motorcycling and enjoying the beauty of a sunny day, Sharon and her friend Cam had a fatal and unexplained accident in Salton Sea, California. Special thanks to JJ and Crissty for holding their hands and helping them to Heaven where they will be reunited with their loved ones.
Sharon was the first of three daughters born to LeRoy and Dorothy Lockwood on November 5th, 1952 in New Westminster, BC.
Growing up on 10 1/2 Ave / Fletcher Street in Haney was an ongoing adventure filled with family, cousins, friends, love, laughter, tears. It was during this time that Sharon made many of her lifelong friends. 1970 brought the birth of her son Barry and she entered into the next chapter of her life… becoming a Mom and embarking as an adult into the world of work. Sharon worked at BCAA, Maple Ridge Municipal Hall then the Municipality of Pitt Meadows until her retirement.
Sharon was very active and involved with golfing, curling and all of Barry’s sports. She could always be counted on to organize or support any special events.
While visiting her family in Williams Lake, Sharon met and eventually married her soulmate Perry Waycott. Brett and Mitch were young at the time and I remember Sharon saying she fell in love with big blue eyes and smiles. Being a Mom to Barry and a Step Mom to Brett and Mitch was enhanced with the births of their six grandchildren and she love them to bits.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Sharon are Thomas and Ester Webber (Grandparents), Daymer Rhodes (Grandmother), LeRoy Lockwood (Father), Dorothy Lockwood (Mother), Gordon Webber (Uncle), Butch Plowe (cousin), Dorothy Suetta (Aunt), Perry Waycott (husband and best friend).
Sharon is survived by son Barry DeMarco, daughter-in-law Theresa Quigley Waycott, Step sons Brett and Mitch Waycott, daughter-in-law Amy Waycott Balance, sisters Darlene Sigouin, Jo (Bruce) Pattie as well as her adopted “Sista” Shannon Schnider, grandchildren; Chelsey and Reilly DeMarco, Austin, Haley, Cameron and Ryan Waycott. Sharon also leaves behind many very loved nieces, nephews cousins, family and friends.
We would like to say thank you to the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. All of you together helped define Sharon into the strong, smart, fun loving woman she became. She lived life to the fullest!
Blind Bay, Salmon Arm. It was a new adventure and you welcomed Sharon and Perry into your lives and your hears. When Perry passed you all held her up with the help of every friend that she had. She was a good friend to many of you and totally enjoyed golfing, sharing wine, drinks and stories as well as playing cards.
Thousand Palms. Sharon loved each and every one of you in her retirement years. Her six months with all of you brought her so much love, laughter and happiness. Sharon treasured her time there and was so happy playing, planning and making fabulous memories.
We would love to invite you to Sharon’s Celebration of Life. It will be held on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at 11 am at the Shuswap Estates Golf and Country Club Hall. Please join us with your stories and memories.
And so the story goes…Until we meet again…
In lieu of flowers please make any donations to a charity of your choice.
I’ve never been good at saying goodbye:I’d rather just fade away,
Goodbyes always make me cry,
And I wouldn’t want to be remembered that way. If you ever think about me
I hope its with a smile!
May your memories of the joys we’ve shared Lost a long, long while
