Sheilah passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021 in Salmon Arm, BC. She will forever be remembered by her children, Sterling (Renée Bérard) and Monroe (William Clarke).
She grew up in Treherne, Manitoba and began her 38-year teaching career in 1961 in Tilston, Manitoba which is where she met her husband Robert Land. They were married in 1962 and enjoyed 48 wonderful years together.
Sheilah was always passionate about bettering the education and well-being of all her students, whether it was in the classroom or later as a guidance counsellor. She was active within the Manitoba Teacher's Society, contributing to the Collective Bargaining Committee as well as Women in Education leadership programs.
In 2013 she moved from Winnipeg to Salmon Arm to be closer to her children during her retirement and quickly became active within the community. She was a proud member of the Shuswap Writers Group, a strong supporter of the Salmon Arm Branch of the Okanagan Historical Society and a fierce supporter of the local Women's Shelter.
Also surviving Sheilah are her sister Colleen Miller (Garry); her brothers-in-law Tom Yeoman and Bernard Land (Mary); her sisters-in-law Ollie Clark and Grace Land. Predeceasing Sheilah was her husband Robert, her parents Charlie and Anne Clarke, her sister Zelda Yeoman, and her brother Garry Clark. Also predeceasing Sheilah were Robert's parents Benn and Ruth Land, and his sister Marian Land.
A private service is being planned by the family.
