Sheldon William Herrick

August 3, 1937 - August 10, 2019
Sheldon (Shel) Herrick, passed away at the age of 82 at his home in Blind Bay, surrounded by family, on August 10, 2019 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Shel was born on August 3, 1937 in Kamloops, BC, to the late Frank and Anne (nee Craig) Herrick.
Shel is survived by his 3 children; Stuart (Rhonda) of Devon, AB, Barbara Vike of Smith, AB and Scott of Kamloops, BC. 2 stepchildren Sue (Randy)
Scero of Deseronto, ON and Bruce (Katherine) Wilson of Holly Springs, NC. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Shel was predeceased by his wife Patty Herrick (nee Tyner), a stepson Ian Wilson, a granddaughter, Danielle Marie and a great granddaughter, Hannah Marie. Shel was also predeceased by a twin sister, Barbara Anne, at 6 weeks old.
Shel was an honest, hard working man that lived in the Blind Bay area since 1947. His parents owned the Blind Bay Store from 1947-1969. Shel was an accomplished carpenter and built or renovated many homes in the area over the last 55 years.
Shel enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood on his acreage, cutting lumber on his sawmill and travelling. For the last 20+ years, 6 weeks of each winter was spent in the warm south.
A Celebration of Life is being held on August 17, 2019 at 11 am at the Shuswap Lake Estates Lodge downstairs. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Shel's memory.
