Sherry Lynn Lewis, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully at her residence in Salmon Arm, BC on Sunday evening, December 5, 2010 at the age of 53 years.

A graveside service was held in Mt. Ida Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, December 11th, followed by a Celebration of life service in the Gathering Place in Salmon Arm at 3:30 p.m. with Jack Bowers and Capreece Bowers the funeral celebrants.

Tributes were shared by her daughters, Suzanne and Sharlette, with an open mike which included a DVD and memories from her co workers at the Ministry of Children & Family Development.

A reception followed, allowing time for family and friends to continue stories.

Born in Salmon Arm, BC on July 12, 1957, Sherry lived a very active life in the Shuswap. She enjoyed sports, coaching and supporting her children and friends. She worked with Steve in the operations of Reliable garbage following the sale of the buisness she worked with Hunterline Trucking for a few years until taking a job at the Ministry in 2001, where she enjoyed her work and fellowship with all the staff.

She is well remembered for her dedication to her family, friends and work, encouraged all to thrive for excellence. A very independent woman, she remained strong to the end, which included hosting her early Christmas day and open house for family and friends on the day of her passing.

The loss of her father, R.L. (Bob) Nelson on October 15, 2010 was very difficult for Sherry.

Sherry leaves her loving family; husband, Steve, daughters, Suzanne (Uther Radcliffe), Sharlette (Peter Purves), son, Branden, grandson, Caius (born on the birth date, 105 years later, of his great-great grandmother, Irene Andrews Nelson); mother, Rose Nelson, sister, Lori (Dan) Reed, and brother, Brad (Lynn) Nelson.

In lieu of flowers the family would be appreciated donations to be made to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, PO Box 265, Salmon Arm, BC VIE 4N3.
