Shirley Anne Quinn

October 5, 2016

With profound sadness and loving memories, we announce the passing of Shirley. Born in Salmon Arm, BC, Shirley was the oldest daughter of Algernon & Elsie May Dalton, granddaughter of pioneers Edwin C. and Mary Dalton. Edwin, a railway worker from Ontario (March 15, 1888), was one of the first settlers to the area.

Shirley sadly was predeceased by her parents and stepmother Dora, husband Charles (1940-1995), son Terry (1973-2008), sister Marjorie and brother-in-law Jim Schmidt (2004).

Those left to mourn are Shirley’s eldest son E. Clayton Dalton who remained in Salmon Arm at the site of the second Dalton homestead with his wife Rena, their children Corey (Angela), Blane (Ania), Britney (Chris) and grandchildren Brighton & Mackenzie, Christopher, Taylor and Johnathan.

In the late 60’s at a dance in Cochrane, Shirley met her love, Charles Quinn of Buck Lake, AB. They married and moved to Calgary, AB; together they had 2 children: Tracy and Terry.

Tracy and her partner Troy will reside in the family home in Calgary with their daughter Elizabeth. They will treasure all the fond memories that have been made there with Elizabeth and Troy’s son Mason.

Shirley loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, often making the long road trip back to Salmon Arm. We have many fond memories of Shirley’s visits. While visiting we would often go to the cemetery to pay our respect. She loved to reminisce about her younger years and had many stories about growing up in Salmon Arm.

Shirley was also very close to her sister Marjorie (Jim) Schmidt and their family. Darren (Lori), their children Kelsey (Steve), Dallas, Brooke, and Levi of Cranbrook, BC.

In July Shirley made her last trip to Salmon Arm where she got to spend time with her granddaughter Britney and great grandsons CJ and Tay. The week prior to her passing, Shirley was able to attend the wedding of Kelsey and Steve (Casselman). Shirley had a wonderful time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family. It was a time that will be treasured and held in our hearts for many years.

A family gathering will be held in Spring 2017 in Calgary, AB.
