It is with extreme sadness that the family of Susan Park announces her passing. Susan is survived by her children Leslie Ennis-Smale (Red Deer), David Park (Calgary), her grandchildren Keenan (Kaitlin), Kimberly and Kelsie, her mother Jean Park and her sister Sheila Park (Kamloops). Susan was predeceased by her father Frank Park (Williams Lake).
Susan was born in Colne, Lancashire, England. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1952. She lived in many communities across Canada and also in France as an “Air Force Brat”. She spent most of her adult and working life as an LPN and Social Worker in Prince George, before moving to Clearwater and then retiring in Chase, BC.
Susan had a strong commitment to Social Justice. She was community activist (no task to large). She volunteered with many organizations in her communities to enhance life for others. Two volunteer tasks that she was extremely proud of were: working with the Interior University Society to found the University of Northern British Columbia and being an elected Hospital Board Member at Prince George Regional Hospital. In “retirement” in Chase, Susan volunteered in many organizations, but her favourites were the Chase Museum’s and Sun Valley’s Gardens. Gardening was a joy for her.
Susan had a zest for life and worked hard at any task or activity that she took on. She enjoyed traveling, camping, kayaking, biking, antiquing, Scottish dancing, Family History, reading and crafting.
Susan’s greatest pleasure however came from being a grandmother and being involved in her grandchildren’s lives and activities. Susan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Susan’s family thank the staff and volunteers at the Chase Clinic, Salmon Arm Cancer Clinic, RIH Cancer Clinic and the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home for the care that they provided Susan with, through her illness.
There will be no service by request. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Should friends desire, donations to the Cancer Society (designated for research for a cure for T-Cell Lymphoma), 111-450 Lansdowne Street, Kamloops, BC V2C 1Y3.
