It is with heartfelt sadness the family of Sydney William Weightman announces his passing at Salmon Arm, BC. Syd passed peacefully with his daughter Linda by his side. Syd was born to parents Sydney & Hilda Weightman, raised in North Battleford Sask. Syd left Saskatchewan in 1949 making BC his new home. Syd was employed as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and worked at the WAC Bennett Dam, Mica Dam, Revelstoke Dam and the CPR Mount McDonald Tunnel.

As a long-time resident of Sicamous, BC, Syd enjoyed good health, keeping active well into retirement. He enjoyed helping others with their mechanical problems, electrical projects, training his dog, learning to operate a computer, playing the Ukulele, but most of all tinkering with any broken object, restoring it to its original state or better. Syd will be remembered for his good nature, humor and overall enjoyment of the times he spent with family and friends.

Syd was predeceased by his mother, Hilda Weightman (nee Keech); father, Sydney P. Weightman; brother, Donel F. Weightman; and sons, Robert Weightman, Corky Weightman

Those left with loving memories: daughters, Linda (Paul) Kelowna, Marg (Sorin) Calgary; sons, Dennis (Helen) of Chetwynd and Bryan (Eileen) of Sicamous, Nathan (Marg) of Salmon Arm; Cousin, Mike (Orla) of Chilliwack; and many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Family would like to thank the caregivers and nurses at Bastion Place for their compassionate care during Syd’s residence.

Cremation will take place and there will be no formal service by Syd’s request.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
